Cloud Engineer

Cloud Engineer Apply now

🕒 Hours: 32–40 per week
📍 For this position, it is required to work from our office at least three days per week. Flexible working hours are possible, but this is not a fully remote role (working from abroad is not an option).

Do you want to work with the latest cloud technologies in an environment where you can truly make an impact? With us, you’ll manage and develop both Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 within an international organization that is large in scale yet feels small in collaboration. You’ll be given real responsibility and plenty of room to bring your own ideas and innovations to life.

Push your boundaries as a Cloud Engineer

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the management, optimization, and further development of our cloud infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environment. You’ll work with a modern mix of on-premises and cloud technologies, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, M365, and our growing Kubernetes environment running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will play a key role in ensuring the continuity, scalability, and security of our platforms, used by ~2000 colleagues worldwide.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage, optimize, and expand our Azure environment.

  • Maintain and further develop our Microsoft 365 environment (including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune).

  • Develop and manage our Kubernetes environment on AKS.

  • Automate and deploy cloud infrastructure in Azure using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

  • Configure and manage Microsoft 365 through admin portals and policy settings (e.g., Intune, Conditional Access, compliance policies).

  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Monitor and improve the security, availability, and performance of our cloud, M365, and container platforms.

  • Support migrations from on-premises workloads to Azure and Microsoft 365.

  • Contribute to the modernization and simplification of our infrastructure.

  • Work with Linux systems, where knowledge is a strong plus as their use is steadily increasing within our environment.

Our infrastructure

Our IT infrastructure is large-scale and complex, yet offers plenty of room for innovation and improvement. With a mix of two self-managed datacenters (with hardware and Hyper-V), a rapidly growing Azure environment, a company-wide Microsoft 365 implementation, and a Kubernetes platform on AKS, we are constantly working on optimizing and modernizing our systems. You will actively contribute to architectural choices, cloud migrations, and security by design.

Despite the size of our environment, we strive for simplification wherever possible—because building a complex infrastructure is one thing, but simplifying and automating it is the real challenge.

You’ll be part of a team of 10 colleagues within an IT department of around 100 people. Together, you’ll manage the environment for approximately 2000 users.

You will work in our challenging and dynamic environment with, among other things:

  • Two self-managed datacenters with hardware and Hyper-V.

  • A rapidly growing Microsoft Azure environment (compute, storage, security).

  • A comprehensive Microsoft 365 environment with ~2000 users.

  • A Kubernetes environment, fully self-managed on AKS.

  • Hybrid workloads with more than 650 servers, primarily Windows and an increasing number of Linux systems.

  • Automation and deployment tools (Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps).

We offer you

  • A good salary in line with your experience, plus an annual fixed Christmas bonus and a performance-related bonus.

  • A one-year contract with the option of a permanent contract afterwards.

  • 25 vacation days and the possibility to buy and earn additional days.

  • The possibility to work from home a number of days per week in consultation.

  • Flexible working hours.

  • A pension scheme in which 2/3 of the pension premium is paid by us.

  • The possibility to follow training and education courses suited to your position and growth ambitions.

  • The possibility to participate in coaching programs for your mental health.

  • Participation in collective insurances such as disability insurance and survivor’s insurance.

  • Free use of our own gyms in Dordrecht and Delfzijl.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree level of working and thinking.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure (experience with design, management, and optimization of cloud environments).

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune).

  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus

  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments, and Linux knowledge is a strong plus.
