Alexander has been working at Anker for 2 years now and is running two different departments: Marketing & Ontrade Sales. Read more about the goals of both departments and how he manages them.

What inspired you to come and work here at Anker Amsterdam Spirits?

Since completing my university, I’ve held marketing positions at multinational FMCG companies. Here, I’ve learned to sell/market products through catchy and emotional consumer campaigns. In 2014, I stepped into the liquor industry and knew straight away that this would be for the long run. Behind most spirits lay beautiful stories about craftsmen, terroir and heritage; passing on these stories to consumers and building brands is what inspires me to work at Anker Amsterdam Spirits. The true entrepreneurial spirit of Anker Amsterdam is a huge bonus to my job.

Can you tell us more about your added value in your position?

I bring my extensive experience from well-structured FMCG companies and in-depth knowledge of the liquor market to Anker Amsterdam Spirits. I put this knowledge into practice in my everyday work life, never alone and always with the full Management team.

How would you describe your department?

My two departments (Marketing & Ontrade Sales) are new to Anker Amsterdam Spirits. We have set a high standard to compete with any FMCG company. On creativity, brand building, financials, data analysis, relationship management, communication skills and entrepreneurial thinking, the team needs to compete with industry leaders to service current key brands and attract new brands.

Is there still a goal you want to achieve?

The number of goals that I want to achieve is endless. The main two involve capitalising on our European strength and King of Reach mentality. With our sister companies in Germany, France and Spain, there is real potential to build brands across Europe. This in turn should attract A-brands for exclusive distribution and brand building.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned or experienced at Anker?

The most valuable lesson I have learned at Anker Amsterdam Spirits, and B&S as a whole, is that the organisation is willing to change. However, change doesn’t happen overnight; it takes time and patience to achieve the desired result.
